Abstract

Summary

The synthesized nanocomposite had shown better rheological and fluid loss control properties in the formulated mud system due to enhanced hydrogen bonding and synergistic effects. The nanocomposite exhibited better shale stabilization property than commercially used partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide polymer. The shale recovery and slake durability index of formulated system with synthesized nanocomposite was higher than PHPA system. This is achieved due to formation of a film-like structure on the surface in presence of synthesized nanocomposite, thus restricting the interaction of solid particles and water molecules into the shale sections.
