Abstract
Summary
This article is primarily dedicated to geologists-interpreters who involved into time section correlation and structural mapping. In some cases time sections not necessarily match to the depth images very well and that is the main task. The main reasons of mismatching are: strong lateral velocity changes, presence of high-velocity curvilinear boundaries with variable thickness, presence of salt domes and anhydrites affected by karst, presence of so-called “shadow”-zones from steeply pitching thrusts etc. All these reasons can alter the target zones geometry and lead to the incorrect geological interpretation.
