Abstract

Summary

In this paper, we build the orthotropic rock physics model for shale reservoirs, the model consider the factors of clay lamination, kerogen lamination, horizontal fractures and vertical fractures, it’s based on effective medium theories including Backus average method( ), Anisotropic DEM model( ), Schoenberg linear slip theory( ). The study shows that there is a better fitting effect of elastic parameters based on orthotropic rock physics model. In addition, we can provide a good anisotropic low frequency model for inversion based on orthorhombic medium. In real data, the orthotropic rock physics model is successfully applied to shale reservoirs in Sichuan Basin of China, it shows that the result is more reasonable and effective.
