Abstract

Summary

The Flemish Pass Basin has a proven petroleum system that is sourced from Jurassic aged sediments. Traditionally structural plays have been tested in the area with success. Now with modern high quality 2D and 3D seismic data, a stratigraphie Cretaceous fan play trend has emerged west of the Flemish Pass Basin discoveries. These fans are large in size and may display multiple reservoir units indicative to fan complexes. The fans are underpinned with Jurassic aged strata and show Class II AVO anomalies. As well, geochemical sampling through the shallow core survey has revealed elevated levels of C1 to C6 over the trend, indicating potential thermogenic hyrdrocarbons in the subsurface.
