Abstract

Summary

We analyse the S wave in acoustic orthorhombic (ORT) media. It is shown that there are two S waves propagating in this medium. One of these waves is similar to the one propagating in acoustic VTI media while another one has a very complicated shape consisting of two crossing surfaces. The kinematic properties of these waves are defined in both phase and group domain.
