Abstract
Point-bars in compound channels of Daqing Saertu oilfield have high remaining oil saturation at their top. Accurate characterization of these point-bars is the foundation for tapping the remaining oil potential. However, due to the low resolution of post-stack seismic data, these point-bars are rarely predicted. In this study, based on the reasoning that a point bar should have an optimal illumination azimuth because the depositional interface of a point-bar normally has a dip angle (10–20 degree) with the stratum it belongs to, OVT data processing technique is introduced to preserve azimuth and offset information of pre-stack seismic traces. Seismic traces with adjacent azimuth and offset are stacked to improve signal-to-noise ratio. Stratal slice reservoir prediction method is used to predict point-bars with all the partial stack volumes. Based on geomorphologic features, point-bars are picked up from all the stratal slices of one depositional layer and then characterized by integrating well and seismic data. Reservoir characterization results show that the series methods used in this study are effective.
