Abstract
The precise positioning of the small scale carbonate caves targets is crucial for the exploration success rate enhancement in the exploration of carbonate reservoirs in Tarim Basin, Western China. Based on the geological conditions of TB area, model of carbonate caves was established. Using CPU/GPU co-processing parallel computing (CPPC) based high-order finite difference acoustic simulating algorithm, 3D seismic numerical simulation of the designed model was implemented with wide-azimuth geometry. The simulated shot gathers were processed with Radon de-multiple process and served as the input of Kirchoff pre-stack depth migration (PSDM). Relationships between depth images and the characteristics of the carbonate caves were analyzed in details; for example, the imaging scale of the carbonate caves is approximately 2 to 3 times of the actual scale of them. Those results can be used as guidance for the exploration of carbonate caves.
