Abstract
Integrated interpretation of geophysical data acquired in 2005 – 2014 on the North Kara shelf and in the southwestern parts of the Laptev and Barents shelves in the amount of more than 16 thous. km of 2D CDP seismic reflection lines and accompanying gravity and magnetic studies on regional networks of lines made it possible to refine the geologic structure of understudied Arctic regions and define the areas of development of probable evaporites related to “shoulders” of rifts of Paleozoic initiation.
Further studies should be directed at investigation of the areas of development of evaporites by integrated prospecting, including 2D CDP reflection seismic exploration as well as gravity and magnetic exploration. While computer processing 2D CDP seismic reflection data, it is necessary to give considerable attention to velocity analysis with an aim of most reliable estimation of stacking velocities and obtaining further information about the lithologic composition of the sediments.
