Abstract
Based on the research of the geochemical and petrophysical properties of the Domanik Formation (the core of wells and samples of natural outcrops in the Ukhta area of the Timan-Pechora petroleum province), the petroleum potential of shale highly bituminous strata was studied. To assess the volumetric method of calculating reserves, samples were studied with an X-ray tomograph, which made it possible to study the capacitive space, and, in combination with geochemical studies, evaluate its filling with mobile bitumen. Criteria of petroleum potential and two types of reservoirs are identified: voids in the clay matrix created during the catagenesis process; fracture, formed by the same mechanism. Tomographical studies indicate the presence of volume in the sample occupied bitumens, extracted HBA, which were formed due to the generation naphthides in katagenesis. The obtained results can be used in the development of assesment reserves methods and quantifying hydrocarbon resources of low-porosity shale strata.
