Abstract
Subsurface reservoir interpretation and modelling is becoming more sophisticated as the E&P industry targets increasingly complex reservoirs. Moving software applications to the cloud has reduced the issues related to the localisation of data and access to it, but the incompatibilities of data models and repository concepts across the diverse market of software technology providers has been a handicap to an efficient deployment of multi-vendor workflows. The development of a data format that encompasses a complete subsurface dataset unlocks the capability of combining many applications with a retention of knowledge along the whole workflow. Specific scenarios related to the updating of data items during a project, data verification and the application of rules to ensure data reliability are discussed. The introduction of automated notification systems allows teams to share progress without the contraint of co-location in the workplace, in line with industry trends towards distributed work practices.
