Abstract
Summary
The North Viking Graben rift basins host economically important accumulations of hydrocarbons. In this study, we focus on the main risk elements associated with the syn-rift play; the prediction of reservoir presence and quality. The eastern flank of the northern North Sea rift contains major basin margin-sourced deltaic sequences that supplied coarse-grained sediment to turbidite-dominated fairways extending into the deep-water rift axis throughout the Late Jurassic. Using regional 3D seismic reflection data calibrated by wells, we integrate seismic geomorphology, seismic attribute techniques and wellbore data to better understand the reservoir distribution of syn-rift sand fairways.
