Abstract

Summary

Utilising the ever growing archive of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery, acquired over a number of different dates, we can identify new seepage sites and classify them with increasing confidence. In addition, optical satellite imagery can also be acquired provided the cloud and sun-glint conditions are favourable. We present work on these detailed optical imagery over North Caspian Sea and West Black Sea to show a correlation between clusters of seeps and likely faults / fractures acting as vertical migration pathways.
