Abstract

Summary

Early stages of Piltun development were associated with multireservoir completion. These wells are producting from reservoirs with different properties. After several years different reservoirs had been depleted differently which increased complexity of surveillance. This circumstances pushed subsurface engineers of Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. to focus on maximizing production from dedicated areas within certain reservoirs. The best solution was found within horizontal wells. Here we’d like to share our experience of constructing and planning horizontal wells. How these wells would be navigated within the reservoir? What risks and gain are associated with them taking into account offshore factors of the field development?
