Abstract

Summary

Various methodologies were developed and used by the authors to get insights on correlation between an input dataset, registered by measurement equipment, and output parameters, characterizing the flow rate taking into account the fluid phase content.

The interpretation workflow based on empirical correlations between DAS and total flow rate was successfully tested on a field PLT dataset and compared to the FSI inflow profile.

The developed interpretation workflow based on implementation of ML methods enabled simultaneous fluid type identification and single-phase flow rate determination from acoustic data acquired using FO cable in laboratory conditions.

A software prototype implementing the interpretation workflow based on the empirical correlations for calculation of downhole total flow rate determination in near real time was developed and successfully tested in laboratory conditions, resulting in average measurement error of about ±6%.
