Abstract

Summary

One of the main questions to answer while performing a geostatistical inversion is how many realizations need to be generated in the project. The required number of realizations depends on the selected criterion coming from the project objectives. Two approaches to define the number of realizations to be used to evaluate uncertainties were applied for different global and local criteria. The first method is an analysis of convergence graphs showing changes of the mean and standard deviations while increasing the number of realizations. And the uncertainty analysis where the number of realizations can be predicted with extrapolation techniques.
