Abstract

Summary

This work shows how the interpretation of ultra-deep 2D seismic lines allowed the mapping and définition of crustal domains in the Santos and Campos Basin, off Brazil. Such map indicated that the most important tectonic feature of the basins, the External High, a mighty focusing structural high, rooted on a continental resistate, that constitutes the backbone of the basins, extended far way southwards from the present known limits. Its extension beyond the EEZ was investigated by 3D surveys that highlighted the existence of very large structural closures that might constitute future giant and super-giant discoveries in the Pre-Salt petroleum system of the Santos Basin.
