Abstract
Summary
Based on the permafrost study, we analyze data of the method of reflected electromagnetic waves (MREMW), including both kinematic characteristics of the section and attenuation features, determined by conductivity. The highly inhomogeneous structure of the upper permafrost is shown on a normalized conductivity section and compared to the near-field transient electromagnetic sounding data. The spatial resolution of MREMW is higher than for traditional electric prospecting and corresponds to the resolution of deep GPR. The MREMW penetration depth in the high conductive salty medium with thawing boundaries reached over 40 meters.
