Automation of the construction of geosteering models adapted for LWD data

Abstract
Original geosteering model i.e. simulated geological section contains uncertainty, that is reflected in the discrepancy between the model data along the horizontal well and the actual logs. In order to remove discrepancy geosteering specialists manually correct the structure of the section using specialized software. However, it is a laborious and time-consuming process,that is why the automation of the construction of geosteering models adapted for logging while drilling (LWD) data is actual nowadays. This paper presents an algorithm, which automatically corrects the structure of the section and provides the model, which is transformed in such a way that sampling along the well gives a synthetic log approximately coinciding with the actual log. The algorithm has additional functionality that allows to set the user's requirements to the final model.
