Abstract
For the VTI media model, there is not azimuthal abnormal information to inversion the anisotropy parameters. Therefore, we need estimate the anisotropy parameters by using the conventional amplitude versus angle (AVA) inversion method. Due to the increase of the anisotropy parameters into the AVA equation, the AVA inversion based on the Ruger formula for VTI media is much more difficult than the conventional isotropy AVA inversion. And the inversion object function has a large condition number. Here, we chose total variation (TV) regularization method to constrain the ill-posed inversion solving, which is appropriate for the inversion problems where we expect there to be discontinuous jumps in the model. We implemented and tested four different TV regularization algorithms (IRLS, ADMM, MQCG, and L-BFGS). By comparing the inversion results, we found that the L-BFGS algorithm is much more stable for the noised gathers and can be further applied into real field data.
