Abstract

Summary

Electrical resistivity tomography was used with great success in assessing the presence of archaeological remains in the vicinity of Talarn (Catalonia, el Pallars Jussà). The field campaign using 12 ERT profiles with 72 electrodes and 0.5 meters of spacing was able to detect several high resistivity anomalies over a conductive background. The most interesting area was marked for an archaeological prospection that dug manually an area of three-by-four meters detecting 3 storage pits. The prospection was recorded with a high-resolution photogrammetry that allowed to verify the morphology of the pits in relation to the ERT data confirming that the geophysical anomaly corresponded perfectly to the actual archaeological remain.
