Abstract

Summary

We acquired high-resolution seismic crosshole data to investigate glacial sediments regarding seismic velocity anisotropy. Its existence would provide further insight into sedimentation processes. Presented are the three experiments, referred to by their P-, SV- and SH-wave source excitation. We discuss the challenges in acquisition and point out the uncertainties that result from those. Furthermore, we show a data example of the complex wavefield. Moreover, we introduce a first simple approach to recognize hints of anisotropy. Preliminary data analysis results indicate that we can detect seismic anisotropy in the finely layered sediments of the overdeepened basin.
