Abstract

Summary

The Prinos CCS project provides a great opportunity for SE Europe towards de-carbonization of large emitters in the region. Initial geological and reservoir engineering assessments consider the potential site as ideal for CO2 storage due to its structure and depth, while the evaluation is benefited by the experience of pre-existing hydrocarbon activities. Utilization of existing infrastructure and previous long operatorship provide additional advantages. Although commercial maturation is required, Prinos may become a pioneer and reference project for future applications.
