Abstract
Every year, power utilities go through a season of clearing transmission line corridors. When nature goes wild, with branches and trees falling and sagging, it leads to accidents in the power grids, drawing attention to the need for tree trimming. During strong winds and heavy wet snow, trees near power lines can cause short circuits, wire breakage, and pole collapses, posing a danger to the population and causing power outages. In the world of vegetation management for power lines, efficiency and safety are of paramount importance. The Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology has proven to be revolutionary in this field, offering unprecedented accuracy and speed. LiDAR systems can rapidly collect vast amounts of data, creating 3D models with centimeter-level precision. This level of detail allows utility companies to precisely identify potential vegetation hazards, prioritize maintenance work, and optimize trimming schedules.
