Abstract
In the Carpathian region, the inadequacy of seismic exploration of Paleozoic and Mesozoic deposits leads to the use of other geophysical methods, in particular gravimetric data for the study of oil and gas prospective objects, in particular thrust uplifts. The research is based on gravitational modeling as a method of quantitative interpretation of the anomalous gravity field in the Bouguer reduction (Bouguer gravity anomalies). The inverse problem of gravity prospecting is solved by the method of detailing, which is based on initial models formed from seismogeological data. The structure and densities of these initial models are pre-specified by gravity field anomalies and geological predictions by simple fitting. The result of detailing is the geodensity models of the geological cross-section, which are optimal both relative to the gravity field (the model field with a small error coincides with the gravity field (Bouguer anomalies)) and relative to formalized independent geological and geophysical data. Models of geological cross-sections, built as a result of geological and gravimetric modeling of profiles by detailing methods, confirm the high probability of the existence of local densification zones (zones of increased porosity, promising for oil and gas deposits) within or in the vicinity of raised subthrust areas of the foundation within the boundaries of Precarpathian foredeep.
