Abstract
A significant number of problematic issues of water use in the territories controlled by Ukraine and in the territories occupied by Russia have manipulative and political components, and the treatment of the occupiers with the water infrastructure of Ukraine had one direction - to destroy and create humanitarian disasters. Only on examples with water supply facilities it becomes obvious that Russia is fighting not to seize vital resources, but to destroy them, not for the sake of the proclaimed “liberation” and “protection” of the population, but for the sake of its extermination or at least a significant deterioration in the conditions of its existence which does not fit into the classical definition of “water conflict”. That is, water in this case is not a trigger, even in the problem with Crimea. In open warfare, water bodies are used as weapons, while sources and technical means of water supply are sacrificed. In hybrid warfare, disinformation is used as a weapon. Therefore, the ability to independently analyze and resist disinformation on water issues is an important and indicative component of the professional training of hydrologists and hydrogeologists in a protracted war. In this study, modern politicized situations related to the use of water resources are typified. On the examples, a brief well-reasoned analysis is made, allowing a more objective look at the problem. More attention is paid to groundwater resources, since the hidden nature of their distribution provides more grounds for manipulation.
