Abstract

Summary

This article analyzes the hydrogeological and reclamation conditions in Southern Ukraine prior to the onset of the conflict with Russia in 2022. The region faced significant challenges due to groundwater-driven flooding processes influenced by filtration losses from the Kakhovka reservoir and an extensive network of main and distribution channels. The war and partial occupation of Southern Ukraine led to the destruction of reclamation systems, resulting in water inflow from the Kakhovka reservoir and widespread flooding. This article discusses the need for restoration and reconstruction of the irrigation systems on the South Ukraine region in the post-war period. Recommendations are proposed underpinned by scientifically substantiated technological decisions that to enhance the its efficiency.
