Abstract

Summary

The goal this article is to investigate the carbon sequestration of the forest landscapes as the one of main regulating ecosystem service. As research methods, the methods of national authors were chosen, which are based on the calculation of regression levels for the determination of carbon in the composition of forest landscapes. The results of the study showed that in the model area of the Vasyshchivske Forestry of the Kharkiv region, forest landscapes are able to absorb about 180 thousand t/ha of carbon. The main carbon sequestering species are Pinus sylvestris, Bétula and Quercus robur L. Modern assessment of ecosystem services of forest landscapes is complicated by the aggression against Ukraine. The area of forest landscapes that were under occupation in 2022 amounted to more than a thousand hectares, and they were found there for a different time period.
