Abstract

Summary

Drilling operations demand continuous monitoring of the process by measuring instruments located both on the surface and in the well. In this case, the main attention is paid to the control of drilling parameters, well trajectory and geophysical logging while drilling. At the same time, the issue of monitoring the vibration processes of drill bits and drilling tools during the run is not a priority. However, undesirable vibrations can lead to premature bit wear, damage to bottom hole assembly components, reduced wellbore quality, complications associated with controlling the trajectory, etc. Therefore, vibration recording should become a common practice in the drilling process. Considering this, vibration processes in the bottom hole assembly were monitored during drilling well in Dnipro-Donets basin using data from of BlackBox™ downhole sensors. Based on the analysis of the obtained recordings, the operating parameters and design of the bottom hole assembly were adjusted, which made it possible to ensure high mechanical penetration rate, improve drill string working conditions and reduce bit wear. The use of technologies similar to BlackBox can serve as a basis for assessing the load on bottom hole assembly elements in order to improve methods (techniques) for predicting their service life.
