Abstract

Summary

The seismic waveform changes shape as it encounters geologic interfaces while making its way into the subsurface and back to the receivers. One of the key aspects of seismic interpretation is to understand and interpret those waveform changes into the geological context. The study shows an application of robust technique – Geobody extraction, in order to extract channel-like features from seismic data. The study results show that only by using 3D approach in attribute analysis and geological delineation, one can achieve an understanding of geological settings, based on seismic waveform response.
