Abstract

Summary

In recent years, the global push for unconventional energy sources, notably shale formations, has reshaped the energy landscape. The United States, a pioneer in this revolution, has seen a remarkable rise in shale gas and tight oil production. Meanwhile, countries like Ukraine are keen on tapping into their unconventional reserves. This paper conducts comparative analysis of Ukrainian shale formation Rudov Beds (V-23) against their American counterparts, focusing on various geological and petrophysical parameters. The primary goal is to assess Ukraine’s Visean deposits’ potential by drawing parallels with renowned US shale plays. The study incorporates data from core samples and petrophysical evaluations from numerous wells. Initial findings indicate similarities between V-23 and other prolific shale formations. In conclusion, this research provides early indications of the prospectivity of Ukraine’s unconventional shale formation, laying the groundwork for future exploration and contributing to regional knowledge of unconventional reservoirs.
