Abstract

Summary

The article provides results of geological and geophysical studies for Solotvyno depression, a south-eastern part of Transcarpathian basin, which were aimed at investigating its thermal and hydrocarbon generation history. These aspects are necessary for the further analysis of local gas fields and making new discoveries. The modelling process relies on large amounts of archive geological, geophysical and geochemical data collected during past investigations, petrophysical measurements, well drilling and logging data. Numerous uncertainties of the past studies around source rocks, rift events and limited depth of the available wells, in comparison to the summarized Transcarpathian cross-section, became the primary points for the present research. As a result, four petroleum systems were defined in Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleogene and Neogene units, together with a general concept of a burial and thermal history for Solotvyno area.
