Abstract
The energy independence of Ukraine highly depends on the amount of hydrocarbons produced. That’s why it is critical to increase the volume of oil and gas production and search for new fields for potential development. Ukrainian oil companies come to realize the necessity of reservoir stimulation as the primary method to increase oil and gas production taking into account the international experience in developing tight and unconventional reservoirs. Hydraulic fracturing (fracking/fraccing) is one of the effective modern stimulation techniques. To improve the accuracy of hydraulic fracturing results, microseismic monitoring is used. In Ukraine, microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracturing is not used so commonly as in the other countries, although hydraulic fracturing technology has been used for a long time. Therefore, an urgent task is to develop a methodology of microseismic monitoring of hydraulic fracturing for further effective use in the study of hydrocarbon fields in Ukraine, taking into account the peculiarities of their formation. The construction of high-quality models using hydraulic fracturing microseismic monitoring data can help to maximize the efficiency of tight and unconventional reservoir development in Ukraine and increase the country’s oil and gas production.
