Abstract

Summary

The hydropower potential module (HPPM) is a qualitative characteristic of hydropower resources that reflects the influence of various factors on hydropower production. Spatial representation of hydropower potential modules, even for unexplored territories in this context, gives an idea of the possibility of using their hydropower resources.

The method of creating a map of modules of hydropower potential is generally based on the approaches of creating a map of runoff modules. A total of 4,630 sections and points corresponding to them were involved in the calculation for the construction of the map. It allows you to indirectly establish the value of the total hydropower potential for rivers and their sections, as well as to determine the general trend in the distribution of hydropower in the relevant river basins, depending on their orographic features. It has been established that, in addition to runoff indicators, the value of HPPM is quite closely related to the slope of rivers. The maximum values of hydropower potential modules are typical for the mountainous territory of Ukraine - for the rivers of the Carpathians and the Crimea (up to 150 kW/km2), the minimum - for the Black Sea rivers basin (0.1 kW/km2).
