Abstract

Summary

The analysis and generalization of geological, hydrogeological and hydrochemical data for eight cities of Ukraine, whose population exceeds 100,000 people, were performed. The availability of approved operational reserves of groundwater or predicted groundwater resources for these cities has been determined. Recommendations are provided for the creation of an extensive system of local (pump-station) water supply in case of extraordinary natural and man-made or military events. The necessity and relevance of such studies are indicated by the consequences of Russian aggression, which is aimed not only at the destruction of the military, but also the critical and civil infrastructure of our state. The works are funded by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The implementation of works is planned for 2023–2025. Possibilities of local (pump-station) water supply of Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Lutsk, Rivne, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia cities were considered first. It is planned to continue these studies for other cities.
