Abstract

Summary

The evaluation of the paleogeographical conditions of the formation of the slopes of Pechersk Hill is carried out within the framework of a joint scientific project between The National Preserve “Kyiv-PecherskLavra” and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. It was based on the application of complex geological and geomorphological methods, the construction of digital paleo-landscape models with mathematical analysis of spatial data, and the creation of geodatabases. According to the results of structural and morphometric analysis, zones of active erosion and denudation activity were identified on the built-up territory of PecherskLavra. In addition, maps of different orders of residual landscape were constructed, which made it possible to distinguish ancient and modern landslides in order to study the origin and development of slopes. They clearly indicate areas of hydro-erosive wear that may be removed in the near future and areas removed in the past due to similar geological, geomorphological and physical-geographical circumstances. A predictive assessment of slope processes was carried out, taking into account all the conditions for the manifestation of dangerous situations. The relationship between the paleo-landscapes and neotectonic movements was established, and the upward dynamics of the slopes in the pre-modern state were traced on the basis of maps of different ages of the base surfaces.
