It is widely known that carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies are proven to have to most potential for net zero goals, along with other technologies such as geothermal. According to the International Energy Agency, CCUS is one of the few technological solutions that can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from thermal power plants, in the steel and chemical industries, or cement production. Despite the adoption of alternative energy sources and energy-efficient systems to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, it is necessary to reduce the cumulative amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. However, the process of capturing carbon dioxide from the air is not yet developed enough to be used on a larger scale.
