Abstract

Summary

The Balingian Province in offshore Sarawak, with a vast area and shallow water depths, has been explored since the 1920s. Over 60 fields have been discovered, primarily producing from the Early to Middle Miocene clastic reservoirs. Previously, it was thought that only relatively smaller, riskier and sub-commercial sized prospects are left to explore in the Balingian. However, a recent well N-1 has discovered a new play potential. The paper outlines the multi-disciplinary approach to unlock this potential which will rejuvenate the future exploration in the Balingian Province.
