Abstract
Summary
Sabah basin located at offshore Borneo and known as Cenozoic rift filled basin ( Figure 1 ). The current oil and gas exploration especially in deep water Sabah remain challenging due to lack of well data calibration and understanding of tectonic phase/phases which will impact on petroleum system modeling. The aim for this study is to use subsidence analysis to reveal the understanding of tectonic phase in this region based on the latest drilled wells and acquired 3D seismic data. Our study shows presence of another rifting event pre-dating Oligocene rifting since 56 till 44Ma in Deep water Sabah basin. Two episodes of Early and Late rifting characterized followed by about 14Ma of thermal sagging before superimposition of Oligocene rifting.
