In this abstract, we compare and discuss conductivity depth imaging (CDI) and 1D layered earth inversion approaches for near surface characterization. We use a Loupe TEM case study from the Pilbara region of Western Australia, focused on a managed aquifer recharge program. Data modelling and inversion was conducted and followed by the integration of wireline resistivity and gamma logs to analyse the validity and direct interpretability of the obtained earth models, and to assess the correlation between the observed electro-facies and the borehole information. We found that there was a very good correlation between the 1D layered earth inversion outcomes, and the observed borehole data, while CDI models produced a good rough estimate of the bulk conductivities of the area but not necessarily a comparable direct correlation with borehole data.
