Abstract

Summary

The study was done during the 2023 GRÓ GTP programme in Iceland. The purpose of this study is to implement and apply automatic detection of earthquakes using the QuakeMigrate package. Detection and location parameters were calculated for a test seismic database from Iceland. We have used the 1D NonLinLoc Grid2Time Eikonal solver method to determine travel time in the study grid of 28x32 km. Several parameters were determined for automatic detection of earthquakes. The marginal window parameter was set to 1 s and the minimum event interval was set to 6 s. STA/LTA parameters were set to 1 and 10 s in the detection stage. But these parameters were set as 0.1 and 6 s to detailed determination of seismic phases. A total of 1300 earthquakes were determined in the study grid of the Hengill area. Seismic phase picking errors were between 0,066 and 1 s.
