Abstract

Summary

We introduce a semi-analytical solution to simulate non-isothermal multi-phase fluid injection including heat loss from the reservoir. This methodology simulates cold CO2 injection into an initially water-filled reservoir. This simulator provides users with an easy-to-use tool that assists with the screening of the risks of having induced seismicity associated with CO2 injection. This tool is meant to be used early on and can be incorporated in the screening phase of a project. It is accessible to a much broader set of professionals and will help identify risks of fault reactivation and induced seismicity early on.
