K-Field is a large gas field located 125km offshore Sabah, deposited within a deepwater turbidite channel-lobe complex. Main challenges in this field are the large overlying gas cloud, complexity of fold thrust belt and fragmented fluid distribution. In 2002, K-C well was drilled and discovered an oil reservoir beneath the gas accumulation. The oil filled reservoirs are thick (hundreds of meters) but the facies penetrated was poor quality, within the lobe fringes. K-D well was drilled in 2006 to test the downdip oil towards the South but encountered water. The OBN PP/PS seismic acquired in 2019 improved the seismic imaging below the shallow gas zone; but the deeper oil filled reservoirs are still poorly imaged. However, two sets of compelling DHI were observed towards the North which opened up K-Field northern oil potential. This paper discusses the K-Field Oil Upsides and Risk, gaining insights from seismic and integrating with well Logs & DST.
