Development of high CO2 fields is necessary to meet Malaysia gas demands and deployment of CCS will help reduce the emission in supporting the global sustainable agenda. The rigorous screening on potential storage sites in Peninsula Malaysia driven by interest to established and accelerate the storage sites readiness requires to evaluate feasibility study for depleted fields. The scope of the study is divided into three parts of analysis namely containment analysis, reservoir properties characterization assessment and risk and uncertainties. The collective preliminary analysis from geology, geophysics, petrophysics and geomechanical studies will decide the potential development of storage sites for CCS network in targeted area of interest. This paper presents the outcomes of a geological CO2 storage feasibility study for a depleted gas field in the Peninsula Malaysia which are to : 1) identify any ‘showstoppers’ which might indicate that the selected site was not suitable for long-term CO2 storage based on geological reservoir properties characterization and containment analysis and, if sufficient positive storage indicators were identified, to select the most appropriate options for progression into a Concept Selection study in which more detailed engineering studies will be completed. 2) identify the project risk associated with the subsurface integrity of the field.
