Abstract

Summary

Hydrocarbon column length remains the most significant uncertainty in volumetric calculation of the carbonate prospects in West Luconia. A more realistic hydrocarbon column length distribution can be applied in the volume calculation based on the column length statistics and the derived trap fill ratio. Some of the possible controls on the hydrocarbon column length include i) occurrence of thief sand in the overburden, ii) capillary top seal strength, and/or iii) hydrocarbon charge and migration. With a better understanding on the controls of the hydrocarbon column length, we can risk and rank the carbonate portfolio with more confidence.
