Offshore Sarawak is a prolific area that have been producing oil and gas for several decades. Although petroleum system is proven and promising, size of the remaining fields/prospects posts great challenge to the field development especially on economic viability. Most of the big size reservoirs have been discovered, produced and depleted, however, many small-size fields in the area remain untouched since they are sub-commercial. PTTEP, therefore, introduces the “Sarawak Model” which is an initiative to develop those marginal fields through minimum development cost.
Sarawak Model focuses on 3 main initiatives which are (1) Standardized Platform, (2) Well Factory Model and (3) Integrated Master Plan. This paper will elaborate more details and keys to success of each initiative and also the way to synergize them in order to maximize robustness of the Sarawak Model
According to the conceptual evaluation and market survey result, it is envisaged that Sarawak Model can reduce cost of platform and development wells up to 30% which can unlock and maximize marginal fields in the Sarawak area.
