Abstract

Summary

We present a transparent method for first screening assessments of storage complexes with multiple storage units, integrating data, risk and uncertainty in a time efficient way for fast and robust decision making. In a fully probabilistic assessment of a storage complex and its individual storage units, the following uncertainties are addressed: (a) structural and stratigraphic architecture, (b) gross rock volume, reservoir parameters and pore volume, (c) pressure, temperature and resulting phase and density, (d) seal integrity and capacity for top and fault seals, and resulting column hights, (e) spill and leak within the individual storage units, (f) likelihood for spill or leak out of the storage complex, and finally (g) theoretical and effective storage resources.
