Abstract

Summary

Modelling cement-based materials from the early-age to the hardened state is crucial for simulation of the cement sheath in deep well. This is particularly important for integrity assessment of CO2 injection wells which can be submitted to extreme temperature changes during injection. A thermodynamically consistent constitutive model is developed for cement-based materials from early-age to the hardened state, taking into account thermo-poro-mechanical couplings and dependency upon hydration progress. The model has been implemented to a finite element modelling platform and can be used to simulate the cement sheath in deep wells. A simulation example is presented to demonstrate the importance of the initial state of stress in the cement sheath.
