This study applies Time-Lag Full Waveform Inversion (TLFWI) to improve seismic imaging in a complex hydrocarbon-producing onshore field. The field features intricate sedimentary structures, and traditional seismic methods struggle to resolve fine details. Using high-frequency TLFWI (up to 40 Hz), the study significantly improves subsurface imaging by addressing shallow and deep anomalies and enhancing velocity model accuracy. Spectral decomposition is used to highlight stratigraphic features like channel systems, which are difficult to detect with conventional methods. These advancements demonstrate TLFWI’s potential in complex environments, offering clearer geological interpretations for exploration and development. This method holds promise for similar geologically complex regions, although challenges remain due to limited data quality and spatial sampling.
