Abstract

Summary

The Qinshui Basin in China has been conducting coalbed methane development experiments since the 1990s, especially in the southern part of the basin where coalbed methane wells are widely deployed and put into operation. However, there are practical problems of low production and low efficiency in some areas of coalbed methane production wells, which seriously restricts the further coalbed methane development in the southern part of the basin. How to identify the main controlling factors of production and provide direction for increasing production in low efficiency areas, effectively improving the effectiveness of coalbed methane exploration and development, is a key issue that urgently needs to be addressed. Starting from the actual production needs, we have developed a 3D seismic exploration technology that integrates production information. Based on this technology, the daily production of coalbed methane in the research area has increased fourfold. Practice has proven that the 3D seismic exploration technology that integrates production information has important guiding significance for increasing production in low efficiency areas of coalbed methane.
