Abstract

Summary

Recent advancements in elastic full wavefield inversion (eFWI), driven by increased computing power, have enabled large-scale 3D applications. Predicting subsurface elastic properties from raw seismic shots has long been a challenge in the seismic industry due to various reasons. Despite these challenges, the ability of eFWI to extract quantitative subsurface information from both the amplitude and phase of seismic data with minimal well calibration makes it highly suitable for exploration settings. In this talk I will discuss the benefits and challenges of 3D eFWI to extract elastic properties of the subsurface.
